Nutritional biochemist Dr. Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro, authors of “Mastering Diabetes,” claim to have created a plant-based diet that claims to solves the underlying cause of high blood glucose and reverse many of the complications of diabetes like chronic kidney disease, fatty liver disease, peripheral neuropathy, and unwanted weight gain. The authors share they both also have Type 1 diabetes and they realized when they switched to a low-fat, plant-based, whole food diet they felt better. Endocrinologist Dr. Joseph Pinzone joins to weigh in on this controversial idea that diet alone can help reverse diabetes symptoms.
